Vipers (v1) - 1986 - G.I. Joe

1986 Vipers: Cobra Infantry (v1), a G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero action figure.

The Vipers were Cobra's answer to a professional, regimented infantry force. Introduced in 1986, these masked soldiers represented a significant upgrade to Cobra's foot-soldier ranks, outfitted with standardized armor and tactical gear designed for coordinated combat operations. Unlike earlier Cobra troops, the Vipers embodied a more militaristic aesthetic—disciplined, organized, and equipped to operate as an elite unit rather than a ragtag militia. Their distinctive helmets and body armor became iconic within the G.I. Joe universe, establishing them as a formidable recurring threat throughout the franchise's history.
