Service Section "Champs" Baseball celebrates the rich tradition of military athletics during World War II. In 1943, Camp Stewart—a major U.S. Army Anti-Aircraft Artillery training center—fielded one of the era's most competitive baseball teams, drawing drafted major and minor league players to its roster.
During the war, military and service baseball teams flourished across U.S. bases and overseas commands, serving a vital purpose beyond sport. These teams entertained troops, lifted spirits during difficult times, and provided a crucial morale boost for service members far from home. The caliber of play was exceptional, featuring some of the nation's finest athletes competing in uniform.
This piece honors that legacy—a snapshot of American resilience, camaraderie, and the role sports played in sustaining hope during wartime. Perfect for military history enthusiasts, baseball collectors, and anyone who appreciates the intersection of America's pastime and patriotic service.
Condition: Excellent. Includes original box (missing top), and is still in incredible shape for its age. There is some discoloration to ball, and some smearing of ink, but everything is still legible. See images for full details.
