WPLJ, the iconic FM rock station broadcasting from atop the Empire State Building in midtown Manhattan, earned its call letters from a Mothers of Invention track—"White Port and Lemon Juice"—when it rebranded in 1971. Operating since 1948, WPLJ dominated New York's airwaves throughout the 1970s with album-focused programming that made it the city's most-listened-to FM rock station during an era when Crosby, Stills & Nash were defining the sound of rock radio. This vintage 1978 pin celebrates that golden age of FM radio and the legendary artists who soundtracked a generation.
